Students can undertake a minor in Law & Society to supplement another major course of study. While most law & society minors will focus their major courses of study in history, government, classics, international relations, sociology, anthropology, or economics, law & society is a distinct asset to the study of such diverse fields women & gender studies, religion, literature, environmental sciences, as well as many other disciplines.

Law & society is well integrated into the core of the liberal arts approach to the social sciences and humanities. Students undertake a rigorous series of seminars introducing them to a range of methodologies to approach the fundamental questions of the nature of law, justice, and obligation; the impact of dispute resolution structures and the range of administrative discretion, as well as the paradoxical nature of legal norms and social boundaries.

The course of study for the minor requires eighteen credit hours--six three-hour seminars, which includes two required introductory seminars and a capstone seminar.
